Our Next Camera Club Outing – Saturday 19 October 2013
Will be a coach trip to Hastings where they will be celebrating the 947th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings on Saturday 19 October with a Torchlit Procession, Bonfire and Fireworks. We will leave Bromley South at 2 p.m. which will give us time for some photo shots of Hastings and an early dinner before the start of the procession at 7:15 pm (see above for route map). The cost will be approximately £20. There will be a list on the notice board tonight at the Club so if you would like to come along please insert your name.
Sad News
For those of you who knew Mike Chambers it was sad news to learn that he died quietly in hospital on 11 September after an emergency admission some days earlier. Mike was a respected photographer and judge and will be well known to many clubs. The funeral will be strictly for the immediate family. There may be a memorial event organised at some later time.

Things to do this weekend
London Open House Weekend – Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September 2013
The Open House London event is fully inclusive and admission is free for all Open House London events. You will need to find out which buildings are opening/walks and talks planned in order to plan your visits. Get hold of a copy of the programme and more info from londonopenhouse.org.
Bromley Police Station is to open to the public for a public engagement event on Sunday 22 September 2013 between 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
This event will give members of the public a rare and behind-the-scenes glimpse at what goes on inside a police station and see some of the vehicles, specialist units, equipment and resources that the MPS has at its disposal.
Visitors and residents will also be able to talk to local Senior Police Officers about policing in their area and will be on hand to give out crime prevention advice and material. Safer Transport Teams will be carrying out free cycle security marking of bicycles and registering the details on BikeRegister to help tackle and prevent cycle crime. Members of the public can attend the police station in Bromley High Street anytime between 10-4pm where they will be greeted by Borough Police Officers and given a talk and tour of the station and an opportunity to ask questions.
There is no requirement to register for the event or the cycle marking, simply turn up.
Great Gorilla Run – Saturday 21 September 2013
Since the first Great Gorilla Run in 2003, hundreds of people dressed as gorillas will run, jog or walk through the City of London to help save a species on the edge of extinction. The 7k fun run route starts at Mincing Court in the City and passes some of London’s most iconic landmarks, including the Tower of London and St. Paul’s cathedral.
Charitable Request
Did you go to the South of England Rare Breeds Centre on the Club outing last July? If so, you may recall that the charity provides long term residential care for people with a learning disability. They put on a special birds of prey show just for us without making a charge and, in return, asked if we could provide them with some of the pictures taken on the day to help with their publicity. If you took some that you think they might be able to use (and you would get a credit for them) would you please provide, initially, low resolution images to Peter Ergis (peter@imagesthatwork.co.uk) as soon as possible. Helping this very worthwhile charity would be appreciated.
