Saturday 22 October – Andy Cladingboel is hosting a photography walk from his Facebook group around the city between the Strand and Farringdon to have a look at 6 historical Churches. This is not a religious event just a gentle sociable stroll for a bunch of photographers, with a half way refreshments stop and a natter along the way. Someone will be on hand to add historical facts on route. Remember, churches are usually quite dark, so a fast lens is a must. Tripods are not allowed in the 6 listed below. Meeting point and start outside the old Strand Tube Station, located on the corner of Surrey Street, WC2 and The Strand for 10:00am
Walk 0.1m or 2mins to (1) St Clement Danes. Sir Christopher Wren-designed CofE church, on a Strand traffic island, with Royal Air Force links and history. Strand, WC2R 1DH.
Walk 0.2m or 4mins to (2) St Dunstan-in-the-West. Victorian, Anglican church with 1000 years of history, plus a richly ornate, high altar and screen, 86a Fleet Street, EC4A 2HR.
Walk 0.2m or 4mins to (3) St Bride’s Church. Elegant Baroque-style place of CofE worship with a tiered spire. An open crypt converted into an exhibition detailing the history of the church through the century’s. And as its Fleet St, looking out for print references, Fleet Street, EC4Y 8AU.
Walk 0.5m or 11mins via Ludgate Hill & Old Bailey. Tea break time on the way if we see somewhere. (4) St Bartholomew the Great, founded in 1123 as a priory, with ornate interiors, Cloth Fair, EC1A 7JQ.
Please note that here is an entry Fee £5.00 + £1.50 for photography, but it is worth it. There are alleged haunting’s within the church premises, so watch out for ghosts and you won’t fail to miss the huge pipe organ. Also includes some lovely modern artwork and a fantastic charcoal effect painting.
Walk 0.2m or 4mins to (5) St Bartholomew-the-Less, small Anglican chapel of St Bartholomew’s Hospital featuring a 15th-century tower and west facade, 3mins from The Great and Free. Giltspur Street EC1A 7BE.
And if anyone is still keen, walk 0.3m or 7mins via Snow Hill to (6) Saint Etheldreda’s. A beautiful and historic Roman Catholic Church in the heart of London. Andy reckons this is probably the best stained glass window he has seen to date.
14 Ely Place, EC1N 6RY (very posh).

Antony Gormley’s labyrinthine sculptures with his new exhibition Fit at White Cube Bermondsey on now and until 6 November.
The artist is configuring the gallery into 15 chambers to create a labyrinth, where visitors can choose to wander through differently sized and uniquely lit spaces. Exhibition highlights include expansive installation Sleeping Field, which is composed of nearly 600 small iron sculptures. At first glance, the work resembles an urban landscape of high- and low-rise buildings, but up close, the forms show hundreds of bodies at rest. In Passage, Gormley creates a 12m-long tunnel, whose shape is modeled on the human form, offering a journey into the unknown.
Malick Sidibé photographs at Somerset House, Temple on now and until 15 January 2017 – 10:00am to 6:00pm
Mali got its independence from France in 1960, and immediately became in thrall to a different kind of colonialism: a cultural one of rock ’n’ roll, motorbikes and jeans. At a time when the West was fretting about whether photography was even an art form, Malick Sidibé was taking pictures of young people in Bamako which contain all the issues in that debate: authenticity, imitation, control of the image. With a brilliant soundtrack curated by Rita Ray, this show envelopes the watcher and makes you wonder what hardships lie outside the frame, what kind of future these kids found in the ’80s, the ’90s, the 2000s. They must be old, or dead. For now, though, and forever, they are all intensely, radiantly alive.
