What’s on at the Club tonight

Tonight will be our annual competition against Bexleyheath.

Next week (27 April) Gill Peachey will be presenting her “Gardens and Wildlife”.

 

Club Outing – Saturday 22 April

Just a reminder that we are meeting at St. Marks Place, Bromley South at 8:30am.

 

Annual Exhibition

If you still have cups or plaques please bring them in to the club tomorrow or alternatively please drop them in to Jeff King’s house (24 Stone Road, Bromley BR2 9AU). Polished and in their boxes would be a bonus for Jeff.

The Annual Exhibition at Bromley Central Library will run from Monday 15 to Friday 26 May and the Awards Evening will be at the Library (4th floor) on Thursday 18 May at 7.15pm for 7.30pm. We need stewards for the Exhibition and raffle prizes for the Awards Evening so please bring along any suitable prizes you may have and fill in a slot or two on the Stewards’ Roster. 

 

Larter Cup

This was a three-way competition held on Tuesday 11 April between Beckenham, West Wickham and Bromley for prints and PDIs judged by Ian Brash. Bromley beat West Wickham in the prints, they beat us in the PDIs by one point but Beckenham beat both Bromley and West Wickham making them the winners.

 

Panel Competition

This was judged by David Wood, who selected his favourite five panels from which he chose the panel by Steve Jones entitled “Fruit Slices” as the winner.  Congratulations Steve, see Fruit Slices for the winning panel.

 

What’s on this weekend and soon

Spectrum Photo Art’s Exhibition Friday 21 April to Sunday 21 May from 10:00am to 5:00pm daily at Stables Gallery, Hall Place in Bexley

Everyone is welcome to come and meet all the Spectrum members on Wednesday 26 April from 12 noon till 2:00pm. They also expect at least one member to be present at key times at weekends. Entrance is free to the Stables Gallery, the adjacent café and to Hall Place Gardens, which are very attractive at this time of year. Car parking is also free.

 

Sony World Photography Awards – Friday 21 April to Sunday 7 May – Somerset House

The leading photography competition returns to Somerset House to showcase the winning and shortlisted images selected from a staggering number of entries. You’ll see images by professionals and amateurs across a number of categories. Plus, there’ll be an exhibition of work by the legendary Martin Parr, who’s bagged this year’s ‘Outstanding Contribution to Photography’ gong.

To mark Earth Day, there is an installation by artist John Gerrard in Somerset House’s courtyard: a massive screen showing a computer-generated flag made from black smoke on an oil field in Texas.

 

Feast of St George in Trafalgar Square – Saturday 22 April

Celebrate England’s national day as Trafalgar Square is filled with free entertainment and exciting events. Join in St George’s Day commemorations in the fully decorated square, and tuck into some traditional English delicacies at the food market’s stalls. Also, get involved in themed activities, games and cooking demonstrations throughout the day.

 

Beefeater Sip Hop – Saturday 22 April

Do you feel ready to break out your best contemporary dance moves after a few G&Ts? Best leave it to the experts at this hip hop show in Kennington’s Beefeater Gin Distillery. Organised as part of the London Tonic Series, they’re calling it ‘Sip Hop’ (because it rhymes you see). Guests will given a FREE Beefeater gin cocktail while watching ‘Smother’ a dance performance that charts the love story of two young men. 

‘Sip Hop’ takes place over two sessions on Saturday April 22, from 1:30pm until 3.30pm and 3:30pm until 5.30pm. Tickets are free, but with complementary gin on offer, they won’t be around for long. Register for your place here.

 

KCPA Print and PDI 2017 Exhibition

The exhibition will start at Creek Creative, Faversham, Kent (Tuesday 25 April – Sunday 7 May), and then go onto The Crypt Gallery, Seaford, Sussex (22nd – 28th May).

Congratulations to Czech Conroy, Steve Jones and Paul Lehane who all had images selected.

 

Virgin Money London Marathon is taking place on Sunday

Let’s be honest, running 26.2 miles dressed as a Womble is hardly the easiest of activities, is it? So if you’re not taking part in the London Marathon this Sunday, get out and show your support for those who are.
