What’s on at the Club
Tomorrow is the Kerri and Steinberger Cups competitions. The Steinberger cup is awarded for the best PDI taken on a club outing and the Kerri Cup for the best print taken on a club outing.
Next week (21 March) Cherry Larcombe ’s presentation is on creative flower photography.
It is also hand in for the Annual Exhibition. Members may enter up to 9 images of any subject for each of Colour Prints, Mono Prints and PDI’s (27 in all). Please bear in mind that an image which has been entered in a club competition may only be entered in the same season’s Annual Exhibition in the same format as it was entered in the club competition, e.g. a print image cannot be put into the AE as a PDI. Once an image has been entered into the AE it can’t be used again for club comps, outings comps or the next AE.
What’s on soon
Walk Through a Giant Kaleidoscope- Friday 15 March to 5 May
The Saatchi Gallery is giving visitors the chance to find out what it’s really like to step inside an optical illusion with their latest exhibition: Kaleidoscope. The centrepiece of new immersive exhibition is Laura Buckley’s walk-in multimedia installation Fata Morgana, 2012, fun which mirrored walls reflect constantly shifting sights and sounds. Named after a form of mirage that can sometimes be spotted where sky meets sea, the piece echoes the exhibition’s aim to draw attention to the ways in which human perception can be distorted.
London St Patrick’s Day Festival – Friday 15 to Sunday 17 March
For a whole three days with the main parade on Sunday, attracting massive crowds of over 125,000 people. For guaranteed fun and rowdiness, follow the St Patrick’s Day Parade (complete with floats, marching bands and colourful showmanship) from Green Park via Piccadilly, and Whitehall before ending at Trafalgar Square where Irish-themed festivities will continue. This year’s line up includes live music and free entertainment with games, arts and crafts as well as walkabout performances. The theme this year is #Londonisopen – a welcome sentiment at a strange time in the city.
South London Camerafair – Sunday 17 March
Message from George Kozobolis ARPS, Organiser
“The number of our, mainly elderly, stall holders as well as visitors has shrank tremendously over the years and these fairs are getting more and more difficult to finance and keep them running. It would be a great loss to the many regulars and loyal photographic club, society, collector members etc., if we were to stop these fairs. I am appealing to everyone connected with photography to support us by encouraging anyone interested in still or cine, analogue or digital photography to encourage their members, friends, associates or anybody interested to visit our fairs. Their visit will prove beneficial to see the development of cameras over the ages and have a chance to own a piece of photographic history that keeps on working even today!
Please click on the links bellow for more information about the fair. https://www.facebook.com/events/396540121122565/ and http://camerafair.tumblr.com/. We are pleased to have with us KEH Camera from USA as a stall holder looking to purchase quality used photographic equipment. Please inform everybody to bring all their surplus cameras etc. along as these people are looking to buy a lot!”
