Pride in London Parade – Saturday 25 June

Starting at BBC Broadcasting House at the north end of Regent Street, then passing Trafalgar Square to Whitehall. Making the journey will be 231 walking groups and 55 floats – one of which is Pride Punx, the first ever punk float to take part in the Pride in London Parade. There will also be a main stage of entertainment from 12 noon until 8:00pm in Trafalgar Square for a £3 donation. Announced for that stage so far is the fantastic cabaret artist Michael Twaits with La Voix, a semi-finalist from ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, the Gay Men’s Dance Company and many more. Eel Pie Island Open Weekend – Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 June 11:00 am – 6:00 pm

Eel Pie island is a private island on the Thames at Twickenham. In addition to mixed dwellings and a nature reserve, the island is home to 26 artists studios all situated in and around a working boatyard. Twice a year, the island opens up to the public and the studios open their doors to interested visitors providing a unique opportunity to see inside a real working artist’s studio, talk to the artists and purchase or commission new art works.

 

London Dragon Boat Festival – Sunday 26 June from 10:00am

London Regatta Centre, Custom House. Cheer on dozens of dragon boats racing the Thames at this annual festival, and enjoy martial arts displays, Chinese lion dancing, music and Southeast Asian street food between the sporting events.

 

Hanworth Classic Car Show, Bushy ParkHampton Court, TW12 2EJ – Sunday 26 June 11:00am – 4:00pm

The Annual Hanworth Classic Event includes over 500 vintage/classic cars/motor bikes/ scooter/military vehicles/vintage bicycles as well as 150 dancers positively encouraged to dress in 40’s 50’s style. Jitterbug and jive displays and music to enjoy with Nic Kirby and guest DJ’s. Large covered all weather dance floor and covered seating reserved for dancers/picnic area. Free

 

East End Canal Festival – Sunday 26 June 11:00am – 5:00pm

The East End Canal Festival is a free event celebrating 200 years of the Regent’s Canal and the industries that thrived alongside it. Today, the Canal provides a green corridor, which unites the East End from north to south. The Festival’s activities include boat trips, canal ‘Roses and Castles’ painting workshop, a film show, a large exhibition about the Regent’s and Hertford Union Canals’ history featuring ‘then and now’ photos and living memories, local canal history walks, an exhibition of local artists work, many stalls covering family and local history, health with Social Action for Health activities, gardening tips from Growing Concerns, the East End WI tea bar plus lots more. Kids activities include pond dipping, carnival costumes to try on, canal storytelling and face painting.

Make a day of it by also visiting the Ragged School Museum in Copperfield Road which is opening specially for the day and the Bandstand Concert in Victoria Park Tower Hamlets featuring the Jackie Craissati Big Band & Friends.
