Tonight is Round 2 of the Colour Print competition to be judged by Mick White. Next week Vivecah Koh (www.vivecakohphotography.com) will be our guest speaker. And don’t forget our next Club outing on Saturday 16 November to Lingfield and, of course, our Christmas Dinner at Ferrari’s on Monday 16 December.

Things to do this weekend
Lord Mayor’s Show – Saturday 9 November 2013 11:00 am to 1:00 pm – Fireworks at 5:00 pm
Annual pageant through the streets of London by the newly elected Lord Mayor. Best to visit their website for full details of the timings and route taken.
At 5:00 there will be fireworks on the Thames
And St. Paul’s Cathedral will be open all day to the public for free on Saturday.
More Firework displays
- Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 November 2013 at Leeds Castle. Witness a spectacular display with moving images, music and incredible fireworks over the Castle, set to a theme of Fire. Details at leeds-castle.com.
- Saturday 9 November 2013 – the Rotary Club of West Wickham, 6:00 to 9:00 pm at Langley Park School for Girls, Hawkbrook Lane, Beckenham. More info at westwickhamfireworks.co.uk.
If you are a steam engine fan, a double ended steam train will be passing through South London on Saturday 9 November.
A railway tour with a steam engine at either end will be passing through South London. Ideal for steam fans to watch, or photograph. The No. 34046 ‘Braunton” will be accompanied throughout by either 34067 ‘Tangmere’ or an ex-LMSR ‘Black 5’ 4-6-0. The train departs from London Victoria Station at around 8:45-9am. It then follows the route through Peckham Rye, East Dulwich, Streatham Common and East Croydon.The train returns to London via East Croydon to London Victoria arriving at around 5:15pm.
Flypast tribute to the fallen on Remembrance Sunday – 10 November
The largest formation of warbirds, made up of 5 Spitfires, a Hurricane, a Harvard trainer and an American Piper Club, will take to the skies over Biggin Hill. After forming up a short distance from Biggin Hill airport the aircraft will fly over St. George’s RAF memorial chapel at 2 minutes after 11:00 am before turning to fly over the chalk cross set in the hills above Shoreham.
What’s on at the National Portrait Gallery
- Achievement: New Photographs 2011-2013. This display celebrates the achievement of individuals at the top of their chosen professions and includes work from two portfolios created by Anita Corbin and Nancy Honey. Room 37a until 5 January 2014. Free.
- Benjamin Britten: A Life in Pictures. This display presents more than 40 photographs that chart the life of Benjamin Britten and show him among many of the composers, musicians, singers, stage directors and producers with whom he worked and who, for a time, became part of his circle. Room 31 from 5 November. Free.
