IN THIS EDITION: This Week at the Club Winning Image AGM Minutes PDI Dimensions Eastbourne Outing Club Subscriptions Survey Results Upcoming PDI Competitions Upcoming Meetings THIS WEEK AT THE CLUB Colour PDI Competition, Round 1 7:45pm, 19th September We would love to see you for our first competition of the season! Judged by Darren Pullman, entrants can submit a maximum of 3 images via PhotoEntry. The submission deadline is the 17th of September. Please remember that we have changed the maximum size that an image can be to 1200×1600 pixels! If in doubt, upload a full size image and PhotoEntry can resize it for you. WINNING IMAGE Something new! From time to time I’ll be putting in a ‘winning image’. Sometimes it’ll be to highlight someone’s achievement in a competition, while other times it might be to look back on an outing. This week is the opening montage from Team 3’s Summer Project who won this years competition. A very big well-done to Andrew, Mike, Peter M, Steve J & Vera! AGM MINUTES Thank you to everyone who attended the AGM on Thursday. Click the button below to read the minutes. AGM Minutes PDI DIMENSIONS A new maximum size for PDI competitions is now in affect. The new size we will be using for PDI entries is 1200×1600 pixels. We did this to bring us inline with more interclub competitions. On top of this, with cameras having more and more capable sensors, reducing our images to tiny versions of their former selves seemed to be an unnecessary limitation. If in doubt about your image dimensions, upload a full size image to PhotoEntry and the programme can resize it for you. EASTBOURNE OUTING 28th & 29th September On the 28th and 29th of September, an overnight outing has been arranged. Six or seven members have signed up already and booked a place to stay but you are still welcome to make your own arrangements or come down for the day if you like. Speak to Allan about it or email secretary@bromleycameraclub.org.uk to find out more. CLUB SUBSCRIPTIONS We hope you will all be joining us again this season. To renew your membership, follow the link below to our website. If you are not able pay online, please speak to Brian the treasurer at your earliest convenience. Members must be paid up by the 1st of October 2024. Renew Membership SURVEY RESULTS Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey, we really appreciate hearing what you’ve thought of the season. Here are some of the results that we gathered: What are your favourite elements? More than 60% of you said: hearing from judges, viewing others’ images, external speakers, members talks and group discussions, outings and catching up with people. Competitions 63% rated competitions an 8 or more out of 10, with another 33% giving between 4 and 7. Nearly 80% of participants thought the amount of competitions we have is just right, while the same percentage also said that core PDI competitions were their favourite. External Speakers 26% of people rated external speakers an 8 or more out 10 with the remainder giving between 4 and 7. Just under 50% of people thought we have just the right amount of speakers while just over 35% thought we have too many. The favourite subjects for speakers to discuss was street photography as well as technical skills and post-production. Internal Speakers 72% of the feedback rated our internal speakers an 8 or more out of 10, with no one scoring them lower than a 5. Over 2/3’s of you thought we don’t have enough internal speakers or club discussions. Viewing members’ images, hearing about personal journeys and stories as well as technical skills and post-production tutorials were the preferred topics. Outings 72% of us rated our outings an 8 or more out of 10; with more than half of that figure scoring them a 10. 2/3’s thought we have the right amount of outings while the other third thought there wasn’t enough. Having a common theme, going somewhere new, chatting with members and viewing what others saw were all popular answers to ‘what do you like about outings?’ Nearly half or participants liked the idea of a Thursday – once every two months – being an outing while the same percentage wanted it to less frequent or not at all.
