Tonight is Round 3 of the Mono Print Competition which will be judged by Richard Walton FRPS. Next week is hand in for Round 3 of the PDI competition. And if you are interested in joining the next Club outing on 16 February please put your name on the list on the Club’s noticeboard.

Secrets of the Thames Photowalk – Starts at 10:00 am – Free
To celebrate the ‘Turner and the Sea’ exhibition at the National Maritime Museum; Thames21 will take you down onto the Thames foreshore usually inaccessible to the public, and let you loose to photograph and explore. A great spot with lots of interesting things to photograph: old ropes, bits of boats, anchors, different coloured stones, and our great city in the background. Meeting at the Maritime Museum Front entrance. Bring your camera or just a camera phone. Please wear footwear suitable for walking on muddy uneven ground and dress for the weather.
Chinese New Year Celebrations – Sunday, 2 February 2014 – All Day Event – Free
The festivities begin at 10.00am on Sunday, with a New Year’s Parade led by the Lucky Money God; winding through London’s West End, before reaching its final destination in Chinatown. An opening ceremony at 12:00 noon officially launches the celebrations in Trafalgar Square, followed by an array of stage performances in the Square by performing troupes from China, including acrobatics, traditional dances and a gravity-defying lion dance on high poles. One of the key attractions for 2014 includes the Little Red Flower Art Troupe, an enormously talented group of children from Nanjing, China who will be performing an exquisite variety show. A second stage on Shaftesbury Avenue, in Chinatown will see performances from local and up-and-coming talent. The Beijing Young Cultural Ambassadors will also make their London debut performing a traditional Chinese Opera. Chinatown will see traditional craft stalls and food stands being set up outside restaurants. A lion dance will be snaking through the throngs of visitors, stopping by restaurants to wish the owners good luck for the coming year. The Chinese Community Centre will also be staging a mini festival in Horse & Dolphin Yard for the day featuring a tombola, a piñata, Chinese calligraphy and live performances featuring Tai Chi, Taekwondo, Chinese classical music, Chinese drumming and Chinese dancing.
Clowns Service at Holy Trinity Church, Beechwood Road, London, E8 3DY- Starts at 3:00 pm – Free
Annual service to remember the UK’s greatest clown, Joseph Grimaldi, where everyone turns up in clowns outfits. The service typically starts at 3pm, with performances outside afterwards.
