What’s on at the Club Tonight

Tonight is Round 3 of the Colour Print Competition, which will be judged by Darren Woolway ARPS.

Next Week (29 January) is a members’ evening when we will hold a group critique session. So far as possible this will be based on members’ new work in progress. Please email up to four images to pdisecretary@bromleycameraclub.org.uk by 27 January. Jpegs not exceeding 5Mb please. If you can send the ‘as shot’ file as well as your edited file there will be more substance to the discussion but this is entirely optional. There is no restriction on subsequent use of images discussed in future competitions.

29 January is also hand in for Round 3 of the Mono Prints Competition.

RPS South East Region Members’ Day – Sunday 1 February – 11:00 to 17:30 at Beechwood Sacred Heart School, 12 Pembury Road, Tunbridge Wells TN2 3QD. Non RPS members £7.50, RPS members £5.00.

Twelve Members have each agreed to give 20-minute presentations on subjects of their choice, which range from individual interests and projects to successful RPS distinctions panels. The full day event is intended to provide an opportunity for Members and Non-members to display examples of their work and talk about their photographic interest and experience. The hope is that this meeting will stimulate an exchange of views and experience of your photography and, if successful, form a regular part of the programme for future years. As only light refreshments will be provided, it is recommended that participants should bring a packed lunch. Those wishing to attend are asked to register and pay through the RPS website. In the event that there are any problems with this process, please contact the Regional Organiser, Terry McGhie. – See more at: http://www.rps.org/events/2015/february/01/southeast-region-members-day#sthash.Jqblsrss.dpuf

This may be of interest to anyone thinking of going for an RPS award.

What’s on at the Weekend

Sunday 25 January – Civil War Society Remembers the ‘Horrid Murder’ of King Charles I. Starts at 11:00  am

Around 500 members of the King’s Army of the English Civil War Society will again march in the footsteps of King Charles I in commemoration of ‘His Majestie’s Horrid Murder’ at the hands of the Parliament in 1649. The soldiers of this modern re-creation of a Royalist Army of the Civil Wars are all volunteers and will be clothed and equipped in the same manner as their forebears were 360 years ago. Should the weather turn to snow, as it did then, no doubt some of them will also be following His Majestie’s sartorial style and be wearing two shirts!

The March will commence from a point on The Mall close to St.James’ Palace at 11:30 am, proceeding down The Mall, and form up in Horse Guards Parade for a short Service of Remembrance and a ceremony in which officers will be commissioned and medals awarded to worthy members, many of whom will have taken part in this parade in each of the King’s Army’s thirty-two years of existence.  At 12:00 noon a wreath will be laid near the place of the King’s execution outside the Banqueting House. Another wreath will already have been laid at 10:00 am at the base of the contemporary statue in Trafalgar Square, passed which the King’s Army will march on their return journey to St.James’ Palace, passed the statue of King Charles I through Admiralty Arch and down The Mall.

And don’t forget to raise a glass to Robbie Burns in celebration of his night!
