What’s on at the Club tonight and next week
Tonight Geoff Collins will be giving his presentation entitled “Air to Air”.
Next week (21 January) we will be hosting the SLF Plate Competition to be judged by Paul Adams. Unfortunately Bromley is competing tomorrow (see below) but I’m sure it will be a good evening looking at other Clubs’ photos.
Next week is also hand in for Round 3 of the PDI competition, which will be judged by David Wood on 28 January.

At Selsdon Camera Club on Friday 15 January where Bromley is competing against Beckenham and South London in the Mono Print section to be judged by David Mendus.
What’s on this Weekend and Next
Snowdrop Days 2016 at Chelsea Physic Garden – Saturday 16, Sunday 17, Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
Due to the mild winter their Snowdrops have arrived earlier than expected! The Garden’s annual Snowdrop Days return with stunning new displays highlighting the snowdrops intricate beauty. These stars of winter will be unveiled in an innovative take on the traditional Snowdrop Theatre, presenting snowdrops, as you’ve never seen them before. Cost £10.00.
London’s Festival of Light – Thursday 14, Friday 15, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 January – Starts at 4:00pm
For just four nights, 20 illuminated works of art will be scattered around London for its first major festival of light. Artichoke has produced a biennial Lumiere festival in Durham since 2009, but this is the first time the company has brought the concept to London. Mischievous stick men will pose all over the buildings of Regent Street and a magnificent elephant hologram will march over Piccadilly. Trafalgar Square will host Centre point’s iconic neon signage for the weekend, as well as being invaded by a pack of neon dogs. A Mayfair phone box will become a glowing aquarium filled with live fish and a well-lit swimmer will dive into the King’s Cross Pond Club.

Mayor’s Annual Quiz at the Civic Centre – Friday 19 February 7:00 for 7:30pm.
£12.50 including supper. Proceeds go to the Mayor’s charity – National Brain Appeal and Connect. There are teams of up to 6 people, if you would like to take part please put your name on the Notice Board.

Annie Leibovitz: Women – Saturday 16 January to Sunday 7 February at Wapping Hydraulic Power Station
There’s Adele at the piano, eyes closed, deep in thought. And Caitlyn Jenner off the telly, in an outtake from her Vanity Fair shoot. And Taylor Swift, in black, by a bush. And businesswoman Wendy Deng taking a (probably rare) moment off. And Aung San Suu Kyi, beautifully dignified as ever. And ballet dancer Misty Copeland en point. And… Has anyone ever turned Annie Leibovitz down? At the press launch, the starriest of photographers to the stars claimed still to have Angela Merkel in her sights. Here’s betting the chancellor will appear as this show of portraits of influential women, commissioned by UBS for its art collection, tours the world over the next 12 months, growing as it goes.
Tony Deller
Sadly Tony Deller (an ex-President and long time member of West Wickham Photographic Society) died on 2 January after several years of treatment for cancer. His funeral will be on Monday 25 January, 1:30pm at Beckenham Crematorium followed by a gathering at the Medhurst Hall, Sussex Road, West Wickham.
