What’s on at the Club tonight
Tonight Clive Tanner (who incidentally judged the images for our Annual Exhibition) will be presenting his talk entitled “It’s a Good Record, I’ll give it 16 Points”
Next week (5 May) is our last meeting of the season when we will have the Summer Project briefing. As in previous years we form teams and get together over the summer break to create outstanding photos on a theme, which Steve will have chosen.
Mike Gleave Nature Cup Competition
Out of the 55 entries submitted the judge, Jeff Royce, chose Betty Deshmukh’s “Scottish Wildcat” as the overall winner. Many congratulations Betty. He selected three entries as runners-up by Vera Stevens, Paul Whitmarsh and Greg Gillies. Mike’s wife, Cecily, came along to the evening and presented Betty the Nature Cup.

Canalway Cavalcade – Saturday 30 April to Monday 2 May
The pretty waterways of Little Venice will be even more colourful than usual for 2016’s May bank holiday weekend as the Inland Waterways Association organises their annual gathering of canal boats. Around 130 boats will be moored along the stretch of the Grand Union Canal between Blomfield Road, Warwick Avenue and Warwick Crescent for the Canalway Cavalcade, which has taken place every year since 1983. Many of the waterborne homes will be dressed up to the nines ready for the pageant, and visitors can expect plenty of very British fun including Morris dancers and a real ale tent. There’ll also be trade stalls, live music, children’s activities and refreshments.

Between Here and There Photography Exhibition – Saturday 30 April to Wednesday 4 May, open daily between 10:00am and 3:00pm at 2-8 Bloomsbury Street WC1B 3QA
One of photography’s most intrinsic and oldest objectives has been to secure a moment of time and offer it as evidence of some sort of true, concrete experience. The exhibition, ‘Between Here and There’ brings together artists whose work explores environments as a testament to our presence, existence, identity and our place in society. Each photographer reveals the impact our environment and surroundings have on who we are, and in turn, how our existence and identity shape the way we perceive these environments to be.
Entry is free – No tickets required. www.thephotographicangle.co.uk
