Next week (3 November) Bromley will be hosting the monochrome SLF Inter-Club Competition between Carshalton, Orpington, South London, Aperture Woolwich and ourselves.

Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens Fire Festival

Saturday 29 October – starts at 7:00pm at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, Tyers Street SE11 5HL

This year’s show is titled The Music of Orpheus and the Jealousy of the Gods. Music, dancers, fire performers, poets and fireworks combine to tell a story of ancient Greece. Orpheus whose music and art have great power. Hades, lord of the Underworld and his beautiful wife, Persephone. The Furies, Cerberus and the love of Orpheus life collide in a spectacular tale of romance, magic and jealousy.

The second half of the evening will be a mind-blowing Fire Cabaret. All this takes place in front of the famous Vauxhall Bonfire. There will be food and drink aplenty so whether you celebrate Halloween, All Hallows, Samhain or the Day of the Dead, join them in Vauxhall for the greatest show on Earth. – Free

 

Halloween at the Grant Museum

Saturday 29 October – 6:30pm – 9:00pm at Grant Museum, Rockefeller Building, 21 University Street WC1E 6JJ – Free

Where better to spend Halloween than in a room of scary skeletons and skulls? If it’s “Eye of newt, and toe of frog” or “Wool of bat, and tongue of dog”, they’ve got all you could want for cooking up some toil and trouble this All Hallow’s Eve.

Join them, if you dare, for a special late opening and discover the Museum after-dark, enjoy a drink and uncover some ghoulish animal facts along the way with Halloween themed specimen labels. Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed visitors.

 

Ross Cup Competition

Sunday 30 October at Ditton Community Centre, Kiln Barn Road, Aylesford, Ditton, ME20 6AH – doors opening at 1pm. The Ross Cup offers a great opportunity for club members to meet other photographers from different clubs, to chat with them and your own club members over a hot drink, and to view the many printed and mounted images on display before you take your seats to listen to the judge Walter Benzie HonFRPS begin his comments at 3:00pm. Several other awards are given but the Ross Cup Trophy will be presented to the club who has achieved the highest total marks in the competition from the 8 prints they have entered. It will be interesting to see how our Club does this year.

You may even purchase one of the winning raffle tickets and get to leave with a prize and they will give you a catalogue when you leave, as a reminder of the day.

 

 

Christmas Meal
