Things to do this weekend

Military and Flying Machines Show – Friday 2, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August – 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. £10 entry, £8 concessions

Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Upminster, Essex, again opens its gates for the Essex Military Vehicle Trusts’ Military and Flying Machines Show. They will be welcoming the following aircraft, Sally B  Spitfire, Hurricane  ME108, Spitfire, and more to be confirmed. As well as everything in the air, on the ground you will also have the chance to see over 300 military vehicles from awesome Jeeps to massive tanks and heavy artillery displays and an armoured vehicle parade.

There will also be an opportunity to see over 60 historical re-enactment displays with over a thousand re-enactors depicting life in the military from medieval time’s right up to the modern day of many nations with accurate uniforms and authentic equipment.

Plus all day live music, 40’s nostalgia. Also this year is the Essex Military Modelling Show with over 15 modelling groups displaying highly detailed and accurate scale military vehicles.

The first Prudential RideLondon will take place on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 August. It aims to become the largest annual mass participation cycling event in the world. On Saturday a family fun ride for up to 50,000 cyclists covering an 8 mile traffic-free circuit around well known central London landmarks. On Sunday a 100 mile cycle challenge for up to 20,000 amateur cyclists starting at the Olympic Park crossing London and Surrey, passing Richmond Park and Hampton Court Palace and ending on the Mall.
