Annual Exhibition – 16/28 May 2013

Is rapidly approaching.  The Steward’s roster is available at the USC to sign. Contributions by way of raffle prizes would be great.  We would also like someone to help with food on the Awards evening (16 May).  Lastly help would be appreciated with setting up on 15 May and taking down on 29 May.

The Club’s Next Outing – Saturday 6 July 2013

Is a coach trip to Dungeness. We leave Bromley South at 9 a.m.  Travelling to the South of England Rare Breeds Centre (“RBC”) (www.rarebreeds.org.uk)

The RBC is owned by a charity (Canterbury Oast Trust) (“COT”) which provides long term residential care for people with a learning disability.

The RBC is a tourist attraction. Any profits help to fund COT.  They are putting on a special bird of prey event just for us – as photographers.

We then continue our journey to Dungeness, stopping at the Pilot Inn for lunch. The Pilot Inn is well known for its fish (maybe because of its closeness to the power station!).  We then spend the afternoon at Dungeness  photographing boats, shacks, plants, shore, steam railway, etc.  Another alternative is to visit to the RSPB Reserve. We plan to leave Dungeness at about 6 p.m.  The cost will be about £25.00 which includes a donation to the RBC.  Lunch is, of course, extra.  If interested please put your name on the list at the USC.

High Beeches Garden

Currently have an exceptional display of spring flowers in the garden. The cold weather has worked to the advantage of the garden as the spring flowerings have been compacted due to the earlier cold weather. This means, unusually, that plants which would not normally flower at the same time – are out together.  The garden is full of exuberant colour. This is the year to see spring flowers.  For more info. gardens@highbeeches.com.
