Next Camera Club Outing – Saturday 24 September

There will be a coach outing to Arundel Castle and Amberley Heritage Centre on Saturday 24 September, leaving Bromley at 8.30 am and returning at about 6.30 pm. The cost of the coach is £25 per person.

Arundel Castle is one of the longest-inhabited country houses in England with fascinating gardens, Norman keep and one of the finest Regency interiors in the world. Admission cost is from £9 to £18 depending how much you want to see. www.arundelcastle.org. After Arundel we will visit Amberley Heritage Centre which has a narrow gauge railway, vintage vehicle demos, old buildings and exhibitions in a former chalk quarry. Through photography, videos, graphic visualisations and documents, artist-photographer Edmund Clark reveals hidden stories of controversial methods taken by states to protect their citizens against terrorism. Focusing on the experiences of UK citizens and residents, the exhibition raises questions about human rights, security, secrecy and legality when individuals are suspected but not convicted of terrorist activities.

 

Sailing yachts to pass through Tower Bridge – Saturday 30 July starts at 10:00am

Twelve yachts from the Clipper Venture Round The World Race will pass through Tower Bridge Saturday morning as part of an end-of-race parade.

The yachts will arrive for a 10:00am Tower Bridge lift. The yachts will wait in the Upper Pool for approximately 30 minutes before proceeding outward bound with a 10:30am bridge lift at Tower Bridge. Once clear of Tower Bridge the Clipper yachts will be locking into St Katherine’s dock in groups of 4 at 40 minute intervals, first lock in at 10:40am.

Visit this brand new floating garden that’s home to thousands of Chelsea Flower Show leftovers for its grand opening. The family-friendly event will involve theatrical performances, botanical jewellery, a Literary Death Match, live music and an adopt-a-plant. The Essex HMVA Military and Flying Machines Show, Damyns Hall Aerodrome, Averly Road, Upminster, Essex RM14 2TN. Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August

This is the 10th anniversary show and over 300 military vehicles, incredible aircraft, thrilling re-enactments and many fun events promise to make it a fantastic weekend for all the family. History buffs will be delighted by spectacular tank convoys, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, wartime live music and a 1940s fashion show. Remarkable demonstrations of fire-power and authentic battle scenes impressively match sights and sounds. Model making, marching drills and story-telling are just a few of the activities for young visitors – if they can tear themselves away from over 1,000 fascinating living history displays.

Damyns Hall Aerodrome is enormous, but visitors can still enjoy close contact with the world’s finest military machines, while speaking to the personnel and re-enactors is just one of many memorable experiences at this event.
