Photographic Exhibitions 

National Portrait Galley – 8 November to 17 February 2013 – Tickets £2.00

 

The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 is a unique opportunity to see 60 new works by some of the most exciting contemporary portrait photographers from around the world.

 

This November, East London photo gallery theprintspace in partnership with Lowepro will open its doors for SoShowMe III, an annual exhibition curated entirely from theprintspace’s social media interactions.  The colourful and exciting show celebrates a wide range of photographic styles by talented artists from around the world as well as a featuring a fine selection of home-grown talent. SoShowMe III is compiled through theprintspace’s monthly competitions on Facebook and Flickr, with themes for 2012 ranging from Rule Britannia for the Diamond Jubilee celebrations and World in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics. An ever-changing jury of acclaimed professional photographers have shortlisted all of the photographs for theprintspace’s online community to then vote for their winners.  SoShowMe III provides up-and-coming photographers who rarely have chance to exhibit their work with the unique opportunity of seeing their pictures displayed in an East London gallery. SoShowMe III opens at theprintspace gallery at 74 Kingsland Road on Thursday, 8 November from 7pm-9:30pm with drinks provided. The exhibition then continues from 9 to 30 November, Monday-Friday 9am-7pm. Admission free!

Photo Opportunities

Saturday 10 November  – Lord Mayor’s Show

Annual parade through the streets of the City of London by the new Lord Mayor.

The Brand Marketing Assistant for Waterstones contacted the Club as they preparing to refurbish their Bromley Store and they are looking to source large, high-resolution images of local landmarks to use as a permanent wall decoration for the shop’s re-launch.   They will provide credits to the photos and she is open to discuss payments for images that may be used. Images that we are looking for include, Down House, Bromley Civic Centre, the Churchill Theatre and possibly the Church of St Peter and Paul.  I am not sure when they need photos by but will let you know as soon as I do.

 

Ink Cartridges

Steve May is the Managing Director of May Office Supplies Ltd. based in Essex who aim to beat all current ink and toner costs.  He supplies both Original cartridges as well as Compatible versions for all makes and models or printers.  If interested contact Steve on 01268 422962 / 07756023400

Note from Greg: Beware when using “compatible” ink in your printers. The ink particles can be a different size to the ones designed specifically for your printer and can lead to the heads clogging up and poorer image quality.
