NEWSLETTER IN THIS EDITION: This week at the club Mono Print Competition round 2 results SLF Finals Day – enter your prints New club logo USC photography Outings Future meetings THIS WEEK AT THE CLUB Thursday 17 February – The beautiful Light: Deception in Landscape Photography Jane Goodall It is also hand-in for round 3 of the Colour Print Competition 7.45pm, Bromley United Services Club MONO PRINT COMPETITION ROUND 2 – RESULTS Congratulations to the photographers who received a score of 20 in round 2 of our Mono Print Competition: Arms of Eye by Brian Davies Strolling in the Colonnades by Clive Williams Swanage Old Pier by Vera Stevens SLF FINALS DAY – ENTER YOUR PRINTS SLF finals day is on 23 April at Sanderstead Methodist Church, 104 Limpsfield Road, South Croydon CR2 9EF. Doors open at 1.30pm and it should end at around 5.20pm. We have entered a club panel, but there is also the opportunity for members to enter up to 2 images in an open colour print competition, and up to 2 images in an open mono print competition. These cannot be prints that are already in the club panel and images cannot be entered that have won certificates in previous SLF competitions, nor can they have been used in other disciplines i.e. PDIs. If anyone has any prints that they would like to enter, Julie will need the prints by 24 February at the latest, as they have to be handed in the following week. She will also need a jpeg of the image before 24 February to enter into the Photo Entry system before the closing date. These open prints will be prejudged and results/certificates awarded on finals day. Please email Julie on printsec@bromleycameraclub.org.uk if you are intending to enter any prints. NEW CLUB LOGO At the AGM, members voted for the club to take on a new logo. If you have an idea and would like to put together a design, please talk to one of the committee members. Thank you to the members who have already sent in their ideas! USC PHOTOGRAPHY The United Services Club are looking for promotional photos for their website. They would like a photographer to take images of the bar and function rooms in various set-ups and are prepared to pay a fee of up to £100. Please talk to Charlotte if you are interested. OUTINGS Sunday 13 March – St Patrick’s Day Parade We’ll find a spot along the route (Hyde Park Corner to Trafalgar Square via St James’s Street and Pall Mall) to photograph the spectacular parade. Meet at 10.30am at Charing Cross station. The parade begins at 12pm. Saturday 26 March – Scotney Castle and Bodiam Castle Two castles in one day! Exact timings of the day to be agreed with attendees to make the most of each venue and sunset. The cost for both castles is £22 or free for National Trust members; attendees will need to book their own places. East Kent weekend – 7 & 8 May Stopping off in Blean Woods to see (hopefully!) Exmoor ponies, longhorn cattle and bison as well as bluebells, we will then head to the East Kent coast to capture sunset and/or sunrise by the sea. There will also be time to explore seaside towns like Margate, Broadstairs or Ramsgate or nature reserves like Sandwich & Pegwell Bay. Accommodation will be at Ramsgate’s Seafront Travelodge at a cost of £84.99 (current advertised price) for one night.
