Croydon Camera Club celebrates 125 years with two events in March

Having first met on 10 March 1890, the event coincides with the club’s annual exhibition (2 to 28 March, except Sundays) at the Clocktower Café in Katharine Street, Croydon. And on Wednesday 11 March the club will stage its 2015 Wratten Lecture, ‘The Photographer’s Eye: On Travel’ – the latest in a series by national and international speakers from the top ranks of the photographic world that have taken place every alternate year since 1999. The speaker is Michael Freeman, author of 30 photographic textbooks that have sold more than 3 million copies. Freeman will be drawing on a 40-year career of shooting principally for magazines and books to advise on how to meet an increasing challenge for photographers everywhere, and particularly with travel photography – how to get photos that we can think of as our own, that no-one else has shot. The lecture is open to non-members. Tickets cost £5. Send cheque – payable to Croydon Camera Club – to Wratten, 12 Wickham Road, Croydon CR0 8BA, with standard size SAE. To find out more go to www.croydoncameraclub.org.uk.
