The KCPA Digital Imaging Competition

Last week’s Newsletter should have contained a flyer for the above competition, for some reason it didn’t show up on the Newsletter.  The competition will take place at Detling Village Hall, Pilgrims Way, Detling, ME14 3EY on Saturday 28 September at 19.30. The Judge (Leo Rich ARPS, DPAGB, APAGB, EFIAP/b) will give a commentary on selected images.  Free entry.

Things to do this weekend

Crossness Pumping Station – Sunday 1 September 2013

The Trust is now embarking on a major programme of work that will see the creation of a new access road; repair of the fabric of the core buildings and the creation of new visitor and exhibition facilities.  However, despite the ongoing building works, there will be a public steaming day on Sunday 1 September – featuring Local History. Admission will be from 10.30am until 4.00pm and the admission charge will be £5.00. No booking is required. People under 16: free.

Tall Ships at Greenwich – Wednesday 28 to Sunday 1 September 2013

After a successful inaugural event in 2012, the world’s finest tall ships return to Royal Greenwich this summer for just five days.  You can join a cruise or watch from vantage points (see below for web site address). All cruises will sail past the O2 Arena, Canary Wharf, Old Royal Naval College, Queens House and the Observatory. The ships will pass through the Thames Barrier and cross the Greenwich Meridian Line. http://www.sailroyalgreenwich.co.uk.

 

Fireworks at Greenwich – Saturday 31 August and Sunday 1 September 2013

There will be riverside fireworks launched from a barge in the middle of the river just down river of Woolwich Arsenal Pier (Marlborough Road, SE18 6TL).  Displays will last for 10 mins starting at 9:45 pm.
